Walk through the Arch (Puerta de Jerez) and take the road going down hill on your left passing the Pharmacy. Take the first road to the left and you will find a small bar. Try to come as early as possible ( suggest 21.30 o`clock) to get a good spot at the bar. It tends to get very crowded.
Specialities: Jamón Ibérico, Chorizo, Queso curado, Solomillo, Tomates al Roquefort
Open from 20.00-24.00 o`clock.

Los Melli

Calle Guzman el Bueno

Best known tapa bar in Tarifa. Run by twin-brothers. This bar is located down town near the town-hall.There are several tapa bars in this area so this is definitely the best area to go.
Specialities: Montaditos de gambas, Montaditos de Lomo, Patatas Bravas
Open from 20.00-24.00 o`clock.

La Posada

Calle Guzman el Bueno

Located in the same area as Los Melli. It tends to be very busy in the evenings, especially in the weekends. It is very common to enjoy a tapa or a drink when standing outside but if you want to sit at the bar I suggest you do not go later than 22.00 o`clock.
Specialities: Boquerones en vinagre, Boquerones fritos, Berenjenas con miel
Open from 20.00-24.00 o´clock.

Small but charming where you can enjoy some vegetarian specialities (home made) to take away.

Puerta de Jerez

Not a very attractive bar - though very Spanish. The owner, Antonio, will make you feel at home. Here you will find the best Tuna tapa in Tarifa.

Delicatessen

Plaza de Oviedo

A place to have breakfast, lunch or dinner (tapa). It is near the San Mateo Church down the centre. It is a bar but you can also buy the traditional andalucian products to take home as a present for your family. Good jamón iberico and special wines from the Rioja and Ribera del Duero region.
Specialities: Jamón Iberico, warm goat cheese with nuts and honey, queso curado.
Open from Monday until Sunday from 10.00-01.00 o´clock.(check hours with change of season)

About Zoë and her guesthouse

Zoë is the owner of Guesthouse Dar Cilla which is unique of its sort in Tarifa. It is located on the outskirts of the old town within the old 12th century walls. 'Dar' is an Arabic word for a town house in which a series of suites are grouped around a central courtyard. Each suite is fully independent, but there is a pleasant air of 'sociability' and you will meet Zoë and fellow guests on the roof terrace over a glass of wine.
