Due to this hotel’s history in the area, hotel Hurricane Tarifa is an oft first encounter on a visit to the Costa de la Luz. You’ll find it directly off the N340. This does not take from the hotel at all, flanked between an unspoilt beach, lush tropical gardens and the hills of the Natural Park.

This hotel lies just outside the town. Serving as a welcome relief from the overcrowded and touristy blast of it’s, at times, brash, but has to be said, more experienced sister - Costa del Sol. However, it is often a manicured expectation that accompanies a hotel of long standing repute. But this is not how it is with the Hurricane, nor any hotel in Tarifa; that’s not what the area is about.

It could be argued that the Hurricane epitomises the area at it’s best. Elemental sea views with the ease of all outdoor pursuits on your doorstep: From mountian climbing to kitesurfing, horseriding and buggy driving and more. For days off from all the activities, the hotel has it’s own gym and sauna in the second pool area where children are not allowed.

Great cuisine can also be had every evening, but booking is a must due to it’s demand. Don’t miss the barbequed steak and fresh fish (always ask for catch of the day), nor the fare at the balmy pool / beach restaurant. Get there early as it’s popular.

A nod must be given to it’s healthy breakfasts too. Absolutely delicious. There is but one child seat however, so do mention this if relevant.

When it comes to rest and relaxation this two story hotel from which you can see across the Atlantic Ocean to the mountains of Africa and at night the lights of Tangers, will find little to disappoint.
